Change Team:
MN State Tournament info
by posted 07/02/2021

This is it, families! THIS is what we play regular season games to do: figure out who's the best team in the State?

They've matched us in Tier 4; a little lower than we expected (there are teams in Tier 3 that we've beaten), but there are still some solid teams in this division, but we feel it's a great fit for us to have good competition and try and win 1st place!

Team Info (USA Softball website): https://lpsmn.com/#/pages/team/46844691
It doesn't look like they've got the bracket up yet; should be in here: https://lpsmn.com/#/pages/event/53920733/46844691
Tournament Rules: https://cdn1.sportngin.com/attachments/document/96d6-2456101/2020_GFP_Minnesota_Softball_State_Tournament.pdf

This is what we know:

  • MN Softball State Tournament
    • SAT, July 10 - SUN, July 11
    • Chisago Lakes High School fields
      • 29400 Olinda Trail, Lindstrom (field map below)
    • First game: opponent TBD (someone who won their 9:00 or 10:30 game)
      • Chisago Lake HS, field 7
      • arrive by 10:50am please, for a full pre-game workup
    • Tournament is double-elimination
      • lose the first time, move to loser bracket; lose twice, you're done for the tournament
    • Other:
      • 70-min games
      • 5-run limit

After the 4th, in prepartation for the State Tournament, we'll have practice on TUE and WED, and a scrimmage on THU against Prior Lake Gold (playing at Miller). Have a safe weekend!

CONGRATULATIONS! WE DID IT!!
by posted 05/13/2021

Congratulations, families! We did it!

By winning 1st place in the bronze bracket during the Prior Lake Shake the Lake tournament, we've been awarded a berth to NAFA Nationals!! This is a BIG and exciting tournament, with teams coming from all over the Twin Cities, across Minnesota, and coming into Minnesota from Wisconsin, Iowa, North and South Dakota, even Kansas, Illinois and Canada!!

The 2021 NAFA Northern Nationals will be hosted in Cottage Grove July 22-25. Pre-COVID, Thursday would start with a round of games a few contests (HR derby, throwing drills, fastest runner, etc); teams would do a gift exchange with the first time they play; kids would begin pin-trading; THU evening there would be Opening Ceremonies where teams would often dress up (theme TBD- Hawaiian, Thing1 and Thing 2, M&Ms, etc); teams would be introduced and parade around the stadium; players would toss candy out into the crowd as they walked by; contest winners awarded; FRI/SAT pool games; SUN bracket play. Winners typically receive a trophy and medal and a auto-berth for next year's NAFA Nationals.

We've earned a berth to NAFA Nationals. IF we win another berth (Monsta) during any of our three remaining tournaments, we'll need to decide which one we'll participate in. EP Fastpitch will fund one Nationals tournament, the families of the players would have to fund the second, if we decide to play both. If we don't earn a bid to Monsta, we'll play NAFA and end our season when NAFA ends (July 25th) and enjoy the rest of summer. If we earn Monsta and decide to play Monsta only, then we'll continue to practice and end our season at the conclusion of Monsta on August 8th.

It is extremely important that we are aware of any schedule conflicts ahead of time. For now, we need to make sure no one has any planned conflicts for July 22-25; communicate to Coach Eric and I privately if there are. We'll need a team discussion about a costume theme (if there's a parade), and a parent committee (1-3 parents) to plan a gift bag exchange (families will have to fund that too- we hope to keep it less than $35 per family; donations help!!).

Coaches Eric, Ashley and I are extremely proud of the girls, and you should be too! They're enjoying softball practice and they're learning skills at a good pace. Congratuations again! and we'll see you soon at the Burnsville Fireball tournament. 5:30 warmups!!

2021 summer schedule delay
by posted 04/29/2021

Hi families!

Due to COVID, head coaches from neighboring softball associations were unable to assemble together to build a regular season schedule. That scheduling task now falls on the league to build. We'll have to trust the system that we're not going to get weeknight away games in Maple Grove, Zimmerman or Mankato.

The league will be completing that schedule soon, but there will be a delay on the original first-game. We wanted to share with you the dates that games are now being played. Some of these include THU games (after school is out)

1. Tuesday, May 11
2. Tuesday, May 18
3. Tuesday, May 25
4. Tuesday, June 1
5. Thursday, June 3
6. Tuesday, June 8
7. Thursday, June 10
8. Tuesday, June 15
9. Thursday, June 17
10. Tuesday, June 22

Once the schedule is communicated to coaches, we'll reserve the approrpiate EP fields, and the EP Fastpitch Field Scheduler will put the home games into the schedule; and then I'll put placeholders into the schedule for our away games.

Games are always 6:15 and 7:30. Home games until the end of May may be a challenge at Miller Park, as we would have to wait for the HS teams to finish with the fields before we would have access to them (B squad uses field 5, Varsity uses field 6, JV uses field 7). This includes practices.

Be sure to reach out to Eric or me, if you have any questions
---Coaches Eric and Lou

Pre-meeting player homework and parent to-do
by posted 04/05/2021

Hi families!

You got it- Coach Lou is assigning homework for players; due tomorrow before the PAC meeting,

Please take a few minutes to watch these videos with your daughter, as they may be questioned about what these mean to them. Even though players from the 2020-21 Domeball team may already have watched them, I would like those players to re-watch it, as the videos may take on new meaning to them.

  • Attitude of Gratitude (link)
  • Anatomy of a Teammate (link)

Parents - if you don't already have the Sports SignUp Play app on your mobile devices, please download it. Parents who have used this app before, if you haven't used it since a previous season, please launch the app and LOG OUT (located in the [More...] function in the bottm right corner). Then log in with the same credentials you use for the epfastpitch.com website. This will refresh the app to acquire our current team. Coaches will be using this app for short-notice communication (player running late, game/practice rain delays, tournament warmup meeting spot, etc); parents can use it for questions, carpool requests, live game updates, etc

Lastly, take time to upload a new photo of your daughter in Team Roster page of the website.

Excited to see everyone soon!
